World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4 to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. This years’ World Cancer Day was led by Project PinkBlue organisation in partnership with HIFASS and various supporters across the Federal Capital Territory.
The walk against cancer was marked on 1st February, 2020 from Transcorp Hilton Hotel to Wuse 2, Abuja. The walk served as a time to call on the government as led by Honourable Ossai Nicholas Ossai, Chairman House Committee on Treaties, Protocols and Agreement; Dr Okpikpi Okpikpi, Coordinator National Cancer Control Programme and Representative of the Honourable Minister of Health; and Dr Zainab Bagudu, wife of Kebbi State Governor for better funding of cancer care in Nigeria so as to help mitigate the struggle of those battling cancer in Nigeria.
