On February 4, 2024, Abuja's streets were alive with energy and purpose as participants took a road walk from the Transcorp Hilton Hotel to Wuse Market, commemorating World Cancer Day. The event, organized by Project PINK BLUE and supported by HIFASS and other health organizations, aimed to raise public awareness about cancer and mobilize support for cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Under the global theme 'Close the Care Gap' and the rallying cry 'chokecancer'!! the event called on the community to unite voices and take action against cancer. This year Project PINK BLUE brought together a diverse group of participants, including government officials, health experts, and community members, to highlight the importance of cancer awareness and early detection.
Key Activities:
HIFASS representatives, including the Communication Assistant and the Executive Assistant to the BOT Secretary, joined the impactful road walk aimed at raising cancer awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles. The walk symbolized the collective effort needed to combat cancer and the importance of community involvement in health initiatives. Also, through social media publicity and on-the-ground support, HIFASS helped amplify the event's reach and impact.
